Technical note
How Much Cold Galvanizing Compound Do I Need?
The GalvoKote specification’s theoretical figure is 0.50 kg/m² for an 80 µm dry film. Real projects require a loss factor.

Evidence-based corrosion guidance
Read with the current GalvoKote TDS and project specification.
The GalvoKote technical data lists theoretical consumption of 0.25 kg/m² for 40 µm DFT and 0.50 kg/m² for 80 µm DFT. The standard build is two 40 µm coats.
Start with the theoretical quantity
For 100 m² at 80 µm DFT, the theoretical quantity is 50 kg.
Add application loss
For a loss allowance expressed as a fraction of purchased material, divide theoretical mass by (1 − loss fraction). For example, 50 kg / 0.80 = 62.5 kg with 20% loss of input. Rough steel, complex geometry, overspray and transfer loss can move the real number further.
Do not reduce quantity by spreading thinner
A common purchasing mistake is to stretch the coating to cover more area. That lowers DFT and reduces corrosion-protection reserve. Quantity should be calculated from the required film, not from a desired budget per square metre.
