Performance profile
The properties that make GalvoKote a cold galvanizing compound.
A high metallic-zinc fraction is only useful when it is supported by surface contact, particle connectivity, usable application rheology, sufficient film build and verified corrosion performance.

Recommended total dry film thickness

Key coating properties
96% zinc
Zinc by weight in the dry film. This is not the zinc percentage in the wet coating or zinc by volume.
Single pack
Premixed and ready to apply after thorough mechanical agitation. No two-part stoichiometric mixing.
Film build
Recommended 80 µm total DFT, generally two coats at 40 µm each.
Direct to metal
The zinc film must electrically contact the steel for galvanic action to occur.

Why zinc level matters
Electrical percolation is the deciding factor.
Peer-reviewed zinc-rich coating studies show that cathodic protection depends heavily on zinc content and inter-particle electrical contact. When zinc loading drops below the conductive threshold for a given formulation, the coating may shift toward barrier behavior and lose effective cathodic protection.
That is why a simple label such as “zinc paint” tells you very little. The actual dry-film zinc fraction, pigment geometry, binder wetting and contact with steel are critical.
Published performance data
Properties should be read with their test conditions.
Laboratory figures are useful for comparison and quality control. They are not a promise of identical field life in every Pakistani environment. Surface preparation, DFT, salts, humidity, immersion, temperature and maintenance remain decisive.
| Property | GalvoKote specification | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Dry-film zinc | 96% zinc by weight in the dry film | Not zinc by volume or zinc content in the wet coating. |
| Density | 2.50 ±0.05 kg/L | Mass per unit volume of the supplied coating. |
| Colour / finish | Zinc grey | Appearance is functional rather than decorative. |
| Recommended DFT | 80 µm total, normally 40 µm × 2 coats | Verify achieved DFT using suitable calibrated equipment. |
| Coverage | 2 m²/kg at 80 µm; 5 m² per 2.5 kg pack theoretically | Excludes roughness, geometry and application losses. |
| Application environment | 5-40°C; RH below 85% | Substrate must be clean, dry and free from condensation. |
| Salt-spray resistance | Up to 4,032 hours | Laboratory exposure is not a direct prediction of field service life. |
